Meet the Instructor: Mo

What gets you excited about Technology?

Automate everything! I have kind of made it a habit of mine to automate any manual task that I have (household chores included). This has given me more time to spend watching Netflix.

How long have you been coding? How did you get started?

Professionally, I have been coding for around 6 years now. I started "coding" when I was young, making html and css pages. Teaching myself gradually and figuring out how to best do what I was trying to do at the time. Slowly made this into a career!

What do you enjoy about working at Manchester Codes?

Looking forward to meeting new people that have come from various backgrounds and want to learn something new!

Favourite language and framework/library/ tool?

JavaScript / TypeScript - I really enjoy the flexibility of JavaScript and the many use cases. You can literally make anything and look to solve all your coding problems through JavaScript. TypeScript I like to use when I am out of the proof of concept phase and want the code to be a bit more...readable.

Least favourite language and framework/library/ tool?

Python - I don't like how tabbing or spacing is used instead of braces!

One piece of advice you have for people fresh to Software development?

Try out anything and everything! Don't be afraid of breaking or changing code. Always be curious and most importantly, enjoy it!

Outside of work, what do I like to do for fun? How do you spend your downtime?

I like to watch movies, TV Series, play games, the normal stuff really.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

Wanted to be a coder, became one, now I don't know what I will be when I'm older.

If you were stranded on a remote island, alone. What piece of technology/ gadget would you be unable to live without?

The internet. Can still code on a web terminal
