Meet the Instructor: Nathan Sainsbury

How long have you been coding? How did you get started?

Commercially I've been writing coding for around 4.5 years, but I started playing around at high school around 10 years ago.

What do you enjoy about working at Manchester Codes? // New? What are you most looking forward to with working at Manchester Codes?

One thing that stood out to me about Manchester Codes was how accessible it was. Since the lessons are in the evenings, it allows people to attend who can't afford to quit their jobs for 3 months.

What gets you excited about Technology?

Innovating and finding solutions to difficult problems.

Favourite language and framework/library/ tool?

I really like using Node and React... Although Terraform is now one of my favourites.

Least favourite language and framework/library/ tool?

C#, I'm sure it's great, but I've never been able to get into it. Also, SAML implementations are a pain!

One piece of advice you have for people fresh to Software development?

Ask lots of questions. People you're working with will understand how difficult it can be to pick up certain concepts.

Outside of work, what do like to do for fun? How do you spend your downtime?

Going out for food, especially Topkapi.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A snooker player

Do you have a pet? If so, what do you have?

I have a very cute cat called Diana

If you were stranded on a remote island, alone. What piece of technology/ gadget would you be unable to live without?

Probably my blood sugar monitor!
